1. 2,2'-Azobis(2-methylpropionitrile) is primarily used as a free radical initiator in the polymerization of monomers like vinyl chloride, vinyl acetate, and acrylonitrile to produce polymers and plastics.
2. 2,2'-Azobis(2-methylpropionitrile) serves as a foaming agent in plastics and rubber, and is utilized in the synthesis of adhesives, acrylic fibers, and detergents.
3. 2,2'-Azobis(2-methylpropionitrile) is used in organic synthesis for radical reactions including Barton decarboxylation, Giese radical addition, and Keck radical allylation.

1. Wear protective gloves (chemical-resistant), safety goggles with side-shields or face shield, and a dust mask type N95 (US) when handling 2,2'-Azobis(2-methylpropionitrile) to prevent skin, eye, and respiratory exposure.
2. Use adequate ventilation such as local exhaust or fume hood when handling 2,2'-Azobis(2-methylpropionitrile), and avoid breathing dust particles of 2,2'-Azobis(2-methylpropionitrile).
