1. Cyclopentadecanolide is primarily used as a fragrance ingredient in fine fragrances, cosmetics, soaps, shampoos, and household products such as detergents and fabric softeners due to its remarkably persistent musk-like aroma.
2. Cyclopentadecanolide serves as a flavoring agent (FEMA 2840) in alcoholic beverages, dentifrices, berry flavors, and vanilla compositions at concentrations of 0.02 to 1.50 ppm in finished products.
3. Cyclopentadecanolide is utilized as a fixative in perfumery and as a monomer for synthesizing poly(pentadecanolide) (PPDL) via ring-opening polymerization in chemical research.

1. Cyclopentadecanolide occurs naturally in small quantities in angelica root oil (Angelica archangelica L.) and is also produced as a pheromone by apocrine sweat glands in male armpits.
2. Cyclopentadecanolide is commercially manufactured via synthetic processes starting from cyclododecatriene through ring expansion of cyclododecanone or depolymerization of polyesters of 15-hydroxypentadecanoic acid.

1. If inhaled, remove the person exposed to Cyclopentadecanolide to fresh air and keep warm and at rest; if breathing is irregular or stopped, administer artificial respiration and call a physician.
