1. Glutamine transaminase plays a key role in nitrogen and sulfur homeostasis and in the methionine salvage pathway, acting as a repair enzyme for α-keto acids.
2. The two principal mammalian glutamine transaminases (L and K) are also characterized as kynurenine aminotransferases (KAT I and KAT III), responsible for producing the neuroactive compound kynurenate.
3. The enzyme's broad substrate specificity makes it active with a variety of sulfur- and selenium-containing amino acids, and it may contribute to the bioactivation of certain halogenated alkenes.
Packed in 1kg/bag, 25kg/drum
1. The primary toxicological concerns associated with this enzyme relate to its substrates and reaction products, as there is no direct evidence the enzyme itself is highly toxic.
2. As an enzyme preparation, it may have sensitizing potential for some individuals, particularly when handled in high-concentration powdered forms.
3. Standard laboratory safety procedures for handling biological macromolecules should be followed at all times.
1. Isolate the spill area, ensure adequate ventilation, and wear appropriate personal protective equipment, such as gloves and a dust mask, to avoid generating aerosols or dust.
2. Carefully collect the spilled material using a damp cloth or appropriate absorbent, and place it in a sealed container for disposal.
3. Prevent the material from entering drains or waterways, and dispose of all waste in accordance with local environmental regulations.
1. The enzyme is moderately stable and can be stored at 4°C for at least 3 months in a buffer containing glycerol and the stabilizers 2-mercaptoethanol and pyridoxal 5'-phosphate.
2. At -20°C, the enzyme can be stored for at least 7 weeks in a phosphate buffer with 1 mM 2-mercaptoethanol.
3. Without 2-mercaptoethanol in the storage buffer, the enzyme will rapidly inactivate within 1-2 days.
