1. Indole-4-carboxylic acid is a versatile building block for synthesizing substituted indole derivatives, including histamine H3 antagonists, HIV protease inhibitors, and SARS-CoV 3CL proinhibitors.
2. Indole-4-carboxylic acid serves as a key reactant in preparing potent and selective inhibitors for drug targets such as human reticulocyte 15-lipoxygenase-1, histone deacetylases, and metalloproteinases.
3. Indole-4-carboxylic acid is also used in the manufacture of pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, dyestuffs, pigments, and as a reaction component in copolymer synthesis.
