1. Methyl indole-5-carboxylate is used as a reactant in the biosynthesis of protein kinase inhibitors and in the synthesis of indirubin derivatives.
2. Methyl indole-5-carboxylate participates in metal-free Friedel-Crafts alkylation reactions, cross dehydrogenative coupling reactions, and the preparation of diphenylsulfonium ylides.
3. Methyl indole-5-carboxylate is employed in the preparation of aminoindolylacetates and serves as a substrate for indigoid generation.
