What’s the application of Tetrabutylammonium bromide/TBAB CAS 1643-19-2 ?

1.It is used as organic chemical phase transfer catalyst in the synthesis of Benzyltriethylammonium chloride, ethyl cinnamate, pseudoionone, etc.
2.It is a curing accelerator of polymer polymerization such as powder coating and epoxy resin, and a phase change cool storage material in refrigeration system.
3.It is also used in the synthesis of anti infective drugs such as Bacillin and sultamicillin.

What is tetrabutylammonium bromide used for?

Tetrabutylammonium bromide is used to prepare other salts of the tetrabutylammonium cation by salt metathesis reactions. It serves as a source of bromide ions for substitution reactions. It is one of a commonly-used phase transfer catalyst.
Is TBAB toxic?
May be harmful if swallowed. Skin May be harmful if absorbed through skin. Causes skin irritation. Eyes Causes eye irritation.

Why is tetrabutylammonium bromide added to the reaction?

The use of tetrabutylammonium bromide as a phase-transfer catalyst increases both rate and yield over the uncatalyzed reaction.

Is tetrabutylammonium bromide flammable?

5.2 Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture

Carbon oxides Nitrogen oxides (NOx) Hydrogen bromide gas Combustible. Development of hazardous combustion gases or vapours possible in the event of fire.
